Your cycling tour around Lake Constance:
You will have to look around hard to find another classic cycle path that is as popular as Lake Constance. Three countries participate in the large lake in the heart of Europe. Austria, Germany and Switzerland add a special flair to the lake. This unique symbiosis of various cultures contributed a number of precious treasures of art. To mention only a few of them: Cultural heritage Island Reichenau, baroque style pilgrims church Birnau or the historic old town of Stein on Rhine. Add the marvellous countryside along the lake and a cycle path winding the way through idyllic meadows, along glittering water and in front of the stunning peaks of the Alps.
Day 1 : Arrival in Constance
Make the most of your stay and visit flower island Mainau or stroll through the very well maintained old town of Constance.
Day 2 : Constance – Stein am Rhein region | 30-40 km
First, you cycle along the southern Swiss shore of the Untersee and pass many villages, presenting themselves typical to this region. Finally you reach the little, pittoresque town of Stein am Rhein with its many frescoed houses. Depending on where you are staying the night, you might cross the border again for Gailingen or Gaienhofen.
Day 3 : Stein am Rhein region – Überlingen region | 40-60 km
Today you circle the romantic peninsula Höri. The famous painter Otto Dix and the well-known author Hermann Hesse used to call this place their home. In the old imperial town on Radolfzell you take a little break before you cross the Bodanrück. A short steep incline is on your way to Überlingen, the only one all around Lake Constance!
Day 4 : Überlingen region – Kressbronn/Lindau region | 50-60 km
Leaving Überlingen in the morning you cycle through vineyards to Zeppelin city Friedrichshafen. The baroque style pilgrim church Birnau and ancient Meersburg cross your path. You continue on through extensive orchards to today’s destination of Kressbronn.
Day 5 : Kressbronn/Lindau region – Höchst / Arbon region | 30-55 km
Cycling through large orchards you reach Bavarian Lindau, picturesque city on a peninsula. Next station is Bregenz. The capital of Austrian federal country Vorarlberg is renowned for the yearly summer festival on the biggest lake-stage worldwide. Afterwards you cross the delta of river Rhine, home of an important natural reserve.
Day 6 : Höchst / Rorschach region – Constance | 30-55 km
On your last day you visit Romanshorn, largest and most important Swiss port on Lake Constance. Along the lake you cross the apple-canton Thurgau. Tidy little half timbered villages line the way back to Constance. Today you should visit island Mainau, if you did not have the opportunity earlier.

Your journey
Sometimes minor roads are used, allowing beautiful scenic views. Appropriate for families.
Lake Constance cycle path runs along the edge of the lake, mostly flat (excepted on the first stages) and without traffic.

Fenced parking space near our local partner office in Constance can be request at time of booking.
By train:
Constance (Konstanz) train station.
The hotels are close to the train station.

Très belle randonnée autour du lac de Constance avec des paysages variés et des rencontres sympathiques dans trois pays différents. Les vélos sont de bonne qualité et l’accueil, tant pour la location du vélo que dans les hôtels, a toujours été agréable.
