Soon arrived in Vannes on the Rhuys peninsula, you are facing the ocean …Then you discover the most important of the Morbihan Gulf : Locmariaquer and Port Navalo at the mouth as well as the peninsula hightlights (St Armel/ le Hézo – le Château de Suscinio/St Gildas de Rhuys. Come back to Vannes after visiting the Gulf and its 2 mains islands (Ile aux Moines et Ile d’Arz). On the Rhuys peninsula, you will cycle between land and ocean, most often on cycling paths. During your boat transfers, you will enjoy fantastic lights of the Gulf according to the time of the day and the tide. You will appreciate also the peaceful nature of Arz Island and the fishermen island called ‘île aux Moines’.
Day 1: Arrival in Vannes
Transfer by bus or taxi (not included) towards Sarzeau.
Day 2: Excursion to Le Hézo | 35 km
Discover the Morbihan Gulf joining Saint-Armel and its salt marshes until Le Hézo. Come back to Sarzeau after taking a look at the imposing mediaeval Château de Suscinio.
Day 3: Excursion to the Ocean Peninsula and the Gulf | 35 km
First cycle to the ‘Pointe St Jacques’ then the very beautiful St Gildas de Rhuys peninsula and its 11th century church. Continue to the Gulf until the tiny fishing port ‘Le Logeo’ and ride along the coasts via Port Brillac and Bénance, before joining Sarzeau.
Day 4: Sarzeau – Arzon | 22 km by bike and 4 km by foot
Ride through all the Sarzeau peninsula until Arzon where you will admire some highlights like the ‘butte de César’, Bilgroix, Port Navalo and Petit Mont. In the afternoon, hike from the hotel along the seaside coast overlooking the Gulf mouth.
Day 5: Excursion to Locmariaquer | 11 km ~ (option 11 km)
Embark for a boat transfer to Locmariaquer where you will explore (by foot) the ‘Circuit des megaliths’ (megalithic alignments) or you can continue your bike excursion to the Moustoir chapel and the nice village of Kerdaniel. Come back by boat to Port Navalo then Arzon.
Day 6: Arzon – Île aux Moines – Île d’Arz | 19 km
Boat cruise until « Iles aux Moines » called the Gulf pearl. You will enjoy by bike its contrasted landscapes and the perfumed atmosphere of the bigger island of the gulf. At the end of the day, boat transfer to Ile d’Arz.
Day 7: Île d’Arz – Vannes | 13 km
Go and discover the Ile d’Arz called the ‘captains island’ because of its former inhabitant who used to sail over all the seas ! Nature is preserved here ! As you will see through the salt marshes during the low tide. Come back to Vannes at the end of the day.
