You will find the most prestigious chateaux on your route, from Chambord to Blois then Chaumont-sur-Loire. Your bike paths will lead you from the beautiful Loire river banks to Sologne forest and vineyards.

Take a break in the heart of France’s kings country, only 1h from Paris!

Day 1 : Arrival in Orléans in the morning | Orléans – Beaugency | 26 km

Discover Orléans, the nice city settled on the Loire river banks which was delivered from the English yoke by Joan of Arc.  Do not miss to visit the imposing cathedral dominating the city.
Then ride along the « Loire à Vélo » cycling tracks and follow the wild river banks up to the nice chateau de Meung-sur-Loire, then to the flower-filled city of Beaugency overlooked by its 11th century dungeon.

It also served as a prison… so don’t miss the dungeons and the torture chamber!

Day 2 : Beaugency – Blois | 46 km

Leaving Beaugency in the direction of Blois which presents a rich historical heritage with the château, a perfect illustration of how French architecture evolved between the Middle Ages and the 17th century. Still go West along the Loire river, following the peaceful ‘Loire à Vélo’ cycling paths! You will reach the imposing 15th century château de Chaumont sur Loire which overlooks you and the river … do not miss the extraordinary “Festival des Jardins” garden festival between late May and mid-October! Cross the Loire river to come back to Blois riding on the nice countryside and forest routes.

" Excellent holiday with RandoVelo "

RandoVelo suppied an excellent holiday for our group of 6 elderly cyclists – who had not picked up bikes for 5 years! The booking process was easy and very efficient and we received great help and advice from Marie Liesse. The Loire à Velo route was perfect for our group – flat, short distances, good tarmac bike paths with just a few short sections on quiet roads with little traffic, June 12-14. The rental bikes were good quality, comfortable and well equipped with paniers, map holders, etc. and they were delivered to our first hotel at the right time. The baggage transfer worked perfectly between hotels. All the arrangements worked perfectly and the hotels were pleasant and the staff friendly. We enjoyed having rooms overlooking the Loire in Orleans and Blois. All the hotels were in the town centres and close to restaurants. Our group enjoys visiting historic sites and so we had the Chateaux Package and visited the chateaux at Meung, Chambord and Chaumont – an excellent choice of chateaux as they were all so different. We were lucky with the weather – one shower when we were inside otherwise cool, just right for cycling. Altogether a wonderful holiday. Merci RandoVelo.
