From North to South, an exceptional circuit with cycling paths that facilitate your journey !
This itinerary offers a concentration of Southern Burgundy charm : Romanesque art is present in each village, chateaux are witnesses to the passing of time and prestigious vineyards are following you all along the way.

Your cycling tour in Burgundy along the greenway:

Day 1: Arrival in Beaune +  excursion to « Côte de Nuits » | 56 km

The undisputed capital of Burgundy, Beaune is also one of France's prettiest towns, with an important artistic and historic legacy: its hospital, crowned with a roof of glazed tiles, is known throughout the world, and its wine museum is a must!

Excursion devoted to the discovery of the famous area “Côte de Nuits” known for its vintage wines and more especially for its red wines: Chambolle Musigny, Vosne Romanée and the morst expensive wine of Burgundy: Romanée Conti.
Discover some prestigious places such as Château du Clos Vougeot or the château de Gevrey Chambertin.

Day 2: Beaune – Chassay-le-Camp | 47 km

A stage passing via the “Côte de Beaune” vineyards which produce prestigious white wines such as Meursault, Puligny Montrachet or Chassagne Montrachet before reaching the Château of Rochepot : a magnificent 13th and 15th century fortress with roofs made of glazed tiles. Do not hesitate to make a stop in Nolay, a charming village with a covered market. Then cycle on the cycling path “Canal du Centre”.

Day 3: Chassay-le-Camp – Saint-Boil | 44 km

Use the “Voie Verte” to reach Chagny before riding through the “Côte Chalonnaise” vineyards. You can take a look at the château de Rully, just before arriving in Mercurey. Don't hesitate to stop to visit a local wine producer and sample a glass of "Mercurey” red wine ! Cycle through the vineyards up to Buxy, a typical medieval town before reaching St-Boil village.

Day 4: Saint-Boil – Cluny | 28 km or 38 km

Along the “Voie Verte”, admire the beautiful landscapes of Southern Burgundy. Among the treasures : the chateau de Cormatin and its gardens, unique in France for its exceptionally well-preserved interiors from the reign of Louis 13th (1628). Then you arrive in the beautiful town of Cluny, well known for the vestiges of its Romanesque Abbey founded in 910 !

Day 5: Cluny – Tournus | 54 km

This last stage will bring you to Berzé-le-Chatel and its mediaeval chateau overlooking the vineyards and the beautiful landscapes that the French poet Lamartine used to admire. Then leave the “Voie Verte” to ride along the small country roads from charming villages to private chateaux. Arrival in Tournus, a splendid Romanesque city !
