Your cycling trip in Majorca:

The well-known island with its unknown sides.

Standing on steep cliffs, overlooking quiet bays, you will feel the charm of Majorca far away from its rich night life. Majorca can whisper too: in the hills in the interior of the island, the wheels of the mills are turning gently and you can hear the cicadas chirping in the grass. On this tour you will cycle uphill and downhill – some nice climbs and descents are awaiting you. Perhaps those ups and downs are symbolic of the turbulent, 2,000-year history of the largest Balearic Island?

Both, the coastal as well as the inland areas have their own charms and you will get to know each of them. In the Dragon Caves of Porto Cristo you will experience how creative and sometimes bizarre the architecture of nature can be. The picturesque fishing villages and shimmering salt lakes will revive your sense of romance. And of course you will get many opportunities for swimming and sunbathing without booking a beach chair many hours in advance. “La Luminosa – The Enlightened One“ – that is how Spaniards refer to Majorca.

Day 1 : Arrival in Palma

Enjoy the animated life of Palma, the main city of the island.

Day 2 : Palma – Colonia Sant Jordi | approx. 65 km

From the Placa d’Espanya you cycle by the sea and follow the coastal cycle path to Playa de Palma. Continue along the coast to Capocorp Vell, the kingdom of the Cyclops (remains of traditional houses). Wind turbines line your way to the salt fields of Llevant where you see the pink-white shimmering salt lakes. Before you reach your accommodation, you’ll find the white sandy beach ‘Es Trenc’. It’s considered the most beautiful in Mallorca, so take a break or cool off in the deep blue sea.

Day 3 : Colònia Sant Jordi – Porrores | approx. 55 km

Once again, you will love the coastal landscape in the picturesque bay of Cala Santanyi and the famous natural bridge ‘Es Pontas’. As you travel inland things become quieter. You’ll see low stone walls bordering fields. For centuries, the gnarled olive trees in the fields were protected by stately fincas.

Day 4 : Excursion to Campos ans its windmills | approx. 40 km

Nowhere in the world is there so many windmills in one small area as on Mallorca. In the past they were an important part of agriculture on the island. Their function was either to grind grain or to pump water into the fields. On today’s stage, you will pass some very beautiful examples.

Day 5 : Porreres - Alcudia | approx. 55 km

The route takes you along beautiful paths through olive groves via Sant Joan to Petra. Here a traditional Mallorcan ‘lunch snack’ is prepared for you in a restaurant on the lovely village square. Through one of the most enchanting landscapes of the island, the ‘Pla’, you will cycle to charming Santa Margalida and further on to the coast. It’s not far along the Playa del Muro until you reach your hotel in Alcudia.Enjoy the flair of the medieval city on a walk through the narrow streets.

Day 6 : Alcudia – Porto Sóller | approx. 55 km + bus transfer

Accompanied by almond trees you cycle along the World Heritage site of Tramuntana to the ‘leather city’ Inca. From here the transfer bus takes you to the monastery Lluc (visit possible) and further to 1200m above sea level. The departure by bike leads to one of the most beautiful villages in Spain, Fornalutx. There you can enjoy delicious paella in a cosy terrace restaurant. Continue through orange and lemon groves down to Porto Sóller, one of the island’s most charming fishing villages.

Day 7 : Porto Sóller – Palma | approx. 55km

Breath-taking views of the sea are accompanying you on the last cycling day. You will cycle trough the picturesque towns of Deia and Valldemossa until you get to the West coast of the island leading you to the city of Palma. Explore the capital city with its lively boulevards, its narrow alleys and famous squares.
