Your cycling tour around Amsterdam:
This is a four-day holiday based at a cyclist-friendly hotel in Amsterdam. You will stay three nights in Amsterdam and have two full days at your disposal for cycling. We have devised four routes for you to choose from, so you can decide for yourself where you would like to go: the fishing village of Volendam and cheese town Edam; the world-famous windmills at Zaanse Schans; Muiderslot Castle; or the elegant city of Haarlem. When planning your journey to Amsterdam, do try to arrive early and depart late in the day so you can make the most of days 1 and 4 and possibly go for a spin then too.
Day 1 : Arrival in Amsterdam
Visit the world-famous 17th century capital of Holland. Enjoy the historic buildings, beautiful museums and pleasant ambiance. Go for a boat tour on the canals, stroll through Vondelpark, and go shopping in the inner city. Amsterdam is a unique city!
In case of staying overnight in Amsterdam on Saturdays or during special periods*, a surcharge applies : please contact us.
*from April 10th to 13th, on April 25th, from May 1st to 4th and on August 1st, 2020.
Day 2 : Cycling day around Amsterdam : 45 km or 78 km
Set off for a ride and discover the region through one of the excursions available below:
Excursion to Marken / 78 km, Volendam and Edam on the coast of what used to be Zuiderzee sea. The former two are old fishing villages; the latter shipped out salty, round, polder cheeses to the rest of the world. This route takes you through picture-postcard scenery.
Excursion to Haarlem / 45 km. From Amsterdam to Haarlem, you will ride through Kennemerland where a great variety of lovely countryside awaits: vast polders, wild gardens, country estates, woods and beautiful peatland. The attractive city center of Haarlem offers a wealth of possibilities for shopping, delving into art and culture, or relaxing in cafes and restaurants.
Day 3 : Cycling day around Amsterdam : 40 km or 63 km
Set off for a ride and discover the region through one of the excursions available below:
Excursion to Muiden Castle / 63 km. The town of Naarden is a good example of a star-shaped fortification. It’s very well preserved, complete with walls and a moat. Next up is the village of Muiden, at the mouth of the River Vecht. Although very picturesque in itself, it is best known for its small moated castle built around 1280.
Excursion to Zaandam / 40 km. The area around the River Zaan was very early to industrialize thanks to wind power. Hundreds of sawmills, for example, contributed in a big way to the building of the enormous shipping fleet that brought Amsterdam prosperity. This is a fantasticroute for those interested in industrial heritage! In addition to quaint old factories and warehouses lining the river, look forward to the beautiful windmills at ZaanseSchans that continue to produce mustard, paint and oil to this day.
