Day 1Arrival in La Rochelle + excursion to Châtelaillon-Plage | 45 km
From the center of La Rochelle and the Minimes harbor, the ocean is always close on bike paths that join the Belle-Epoque villas of Châtelaillon-plage. This seaside resort will seduce you with its retro charm and its beach of 3 km of fine sand. Then a superb panorama is offered to you at the Pointe des Boucholeurs, before the Nature Reserve of the Marais d’Yves. The route then connects Salles sur Mer and La Jarne by the marshes. You will be able to see beautiful castles such as Buzay Castle, artistic reference of French architecture of the eighteenth century.
Day 2 Excursion to Ile de Ré | 54 km
From the centre of La Rochelle, take a shuttle boat to the Ile de Ré! Once you’ve arrived in Saint Martin de Ré, a seaside village of incomparable charm, set off along excellent and safe cycle paths to discover the magic of the Ile de Ré, a true cycling paradise. Cycling through salt marshes and maritime landscapes, you’ll reach Ars-en-Ré, listed as one of the “Most Beautiful Villages in France“. On the way back, take a look at the ruins of the Abbaye des Châteliers. Rivedoux-Plage, with its white sandy beach, is more inviting. Return to La Rochelle by bike.
Day 3 Excursion to the Aiguillon Bay | 42 km
Today, heading towards the Bay of Aiguillon! Join the Ocean by Nieul sur Mer and Esnandes and it is then a real breath of fresh air that awaits you. The portion between Pointe du Plomb and Pointe Saint Clement is beautiful, wild and authentic, between oyster beds and squares. The bay of Aiguillon is offered to you. On the bike path, you can see the remains of the Second World War with blockhouses. The Ile-de-Ré bridge is still in the spotlight. You return to La Rochelle by the coast, the beach and the casino.
