Your bike tour in the heart of the Bordeaux vineyards:

From Bordeaux, discover the greatest vineyards of Bordeaux in 3 stages! Cross the Entre-deux-Mers and its gentle, rolling countryside to reach the medieval town of Saint-Émilion, where the quality of its wines is matched only by the majesty of its architecture. After Lalande de Pomerol, the vineyards of the Côtes de Bourg take you to Blaye and its imposing citadel. Of course, your cycle trip along the Bordeaux Wine Route would not be complete without a foray into the heart of the vast Haut-Médoc or without a glimpse of the mythical Château Margaux!

Day 1 : Arrival in Bordeaux

Bordeaux is one of the cities in France that has made the greatest effort to develop its cycle paths! Take the time to visit its old town, a veritable labyrinth of medieval streets, or stroll along the docks of the Garonne river, which have been completely renovated.

Day 2 : Bordeaux – Saint Emilion | 64 km

Once you have crossed its emblematic stone bridge, leave Bordeaux easily on the Roger Lapébie cycle path, which takes you through the vineyards of the Entre-deux-Mer to the majestic Sauve-Majeure Abbey, which combines Gothic and Romanesque art. After a stop at the foot of the imposing medieval castle of Rauzan, continue your discovery of the Bordeaux Wine Route to the prestigious village of Saint-Emilion, famous for its vineyards but also one of the richest villages in France in terms of historic monuments.

Day 3 : Saint-Emilion – Blaye | 65 km

After a final stroll in the heart of the medieval town, hop on your bike to reach the vineyards of Pomerol. Then it’s time to discover the Côtes de Blaye AOC. Blaye is famous for its imposing and majestic citadel overlooking the Gironde river, built by Vauban in the 17th century and listed as a historic monument.

Day 4 : Blaye – Bordeaux | 61 km

Cross the Gironde estuary to Lamarque and cycle through the heart of the Haut-Médoc and its great wine appellations. Finally, take a look at the famous Château Margaux before returning to Bordeaux on the new cycle paths.
Departure at the end of the stage.

Possibility to add an extra night in Bordeaux.

" A great cycle trip "

We thoroughly enjoyed our cycle around Bordeaux. The variation we saw in the landscape, the delicious wines we sampled and the great accommodation and service made this a very memorable trip. Pierre was so very helpful throughout, especially rearranging our trip at the last minute to accommodate a cancelled flight. The one concern was our bags were typically not at the hotel when we arrived but this was explained in the briefing notes so we carried a change of clothes as recommended. A more robust tyre for rough tracks also would have been helpful but this too was explained so not a surprise.
