Day 1Arrival in San Vito Lo Capo
Settle in this pretty little seaside town, about 50 km from Palermo.
A meeting with our local correspondent will allow you to have all the answers to your questions.
Day 2Hiking in the Zingaro nature reserve | about 6 hours hiking
Your tour starts in the north of the Zingaro Nature Reserve. From here, you start a beautiful walk along the paths in the middle of the Mediterranean vegetation. After numerous views of beautiful panoramas, enjoy a swim in one of the many coves.
Day 3San Vito Lo Capo - Trapani | 65km
Today you head inland to the remote countryside of authentic Sicily.
Your destination, Trapani, is an important port for the region but also a beautiful cultural city with baroque churches, museums and crafts.
Day 4 Trapani - Marsala | 50km
Today you cycle in total relaxation. The panoramic road runs alongside the sea where the view of the windmills over the salt flats is breathtaking. What a chance then to visit Mozia, a small Punic island with little traffic, where you find an archaeological site and a private museum. Only a few more kilometres to reach Marsala and visit one of the special liqueur factories, “Marsala“.
Day 5Marsala - Mazara del Vallo | 29km
Head for Mazara del Vallo, a city founded by the Phoenicians in the 9th century BC, under the name of Mazar (the Rock). It then passed under the control of Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Vandals, Ostrogoths, Byzantines, before being occupied by the Arabs in 827 AD. The city centre, known as the Kasbah, retains Arab architectural influences. The “Dancing Satyr“, a world famous bronze statue, can be found here.
Day 6Mazara Del Vallo - Selinunte | 40km
Today is the start of a superb stage. You ride along the coast with a breathtaking view of the Aegadi islands and then inland through vineyards and olive groves. After cycling, relax and enjoy the largest archaeological park in Europe. Selinunte was one of the most important Greek colonies in Sicily, located on the southwest coast of the island at the mouth of the small river of the same name. The archaeological park surrounding Selinunte and its monuments extends for about 1,300 metres from east to west.
Day 7Selinunte - Sciacca | 45km
Today you reach the charming town of Sciacca, a town again on the sea. The town is a historic fishing port on the southern coast of Sicily. A working-class town rather than a tourist destination, it is renowned for its ceramics, thermal baths and religious festivals, as well as its large fishing fleet.
