Your bike tour around the Swiss lakes

This magnificent route offers an unrivalled variety of landscapes. The loop starts at Lake Constance and takes you to the Rhine Falls, through the mountains and on to the Zurich region, the Principality of Liechtenstein and Lake Wallenstadt, which you cross by boat. One panorama follows another on this cycling route, which is certainly one of the most beautiful in Switzerland.

Day 1 : Arrival in Constance

Check-in at your hotel. Then enjoy the old town of Constance.

Day 2 : Constance – Schaffhausen | 50 km

Along the Lower Lake, you leave Constance and arrive in Stein-am-Rhein, with its frescoed facades. You alternate between Germany and Switzerland as far as Schaffhausen.

Day 3 : Schaffhausen – Zurich | 70 km

Discover the charming town of Schaffhausen before heading off to the Rhine Falls, which you can get very close to by boat. Continue along the Glatt valley to Zurich, Switzerland’s fascinating cosmopolitan city. A blend of tradition and modernity, the city invites you to discover its well-preserved historic quarter.

Day 4 : Zurich – Lachen | 45 km

Cycle along the “golden coast”, the northern shore of Lake Zurich, to Rapperswil. Stop here to visit the town’s landmark, the castle, which offers a superb view of Lake Zurich and the surrounding region. Then cross the lake to the small town of Lachen.

Day 5 : Lachen – Vaduz | 60 km + boat

Set off in the direction of the Linth Canal, the artificial link between Lake Zurich and Lake Walenstadt, built in the early 19th century to prevent heavy flooding of the Linth and its tributaries. In Weesen, you board the boat that takes you to Walenstadt. Enjoy a swim before reaching the Rhine valley and the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Day 6 : Vaduz – St Gall | 55 km + train

Today you’ll travel along the Rhine for a few kilometers before boarding the cogwheel train to Gais. Then, amidst Switzerland’s iconic landscapes, you reach St. Gallen and its famous bookshop. This is the largest historical bookshop in the world, with over 160,000 books.

Day 7 : St Gall – Constance | 45 km

Enjoy a beautiful descent to the lake this morning. You’ll pass through Romanshorn, the largest Swiss port on Lake Constance. The cycle path takes you through pretty villages and along the lake shore towards Constance, passing through the apple-growing canton of Thurgau.
Once you’ve reached your destination, enjoy the town and its many points of interest.
