Your cycling tour from Reims to Epernay :
Go and discover the prestigious vineyard of Champagne, on an itinerary leading you from Reims, France’s great coronation city, to Épernay where the world greatest Champagne producers are located. Between the natural regional parc, Veloroute of the Vallee de la Marne and bucolic wine paths, follow the famous wine route fringed with charming villages in the hollow of the valley.
Dom Pérignon, Cathédrale Notre-Dame, Blanc de Blanc, Montagne de Reims … All these famous and evocative names will have no secret for you !
Day 1 : Arrival in Reims
Discover this Art and History city ! Famous “great coronation city” with its cathédrale Notre Dame, one of the most major gothic art construction in Europe, Reims is particularly attractive for its numerous Art Déco districts typical of the 1920s.
Ride and discover the Massif de St Thierry. An amazing combination of forests and vineyard surrounding 15 wine villages !
Day 2 : Reims – Aÿ | 46 km
Ride round the Montagne de Reims following the prestigious touristic route of Champagne, passing by the wine villages of Rilly la Montagne, Verzenay and Bouzy. You will finish this first step with the new Véloroute of the Vallée de la Marne, along the river, before reaching the village of Aÿ.
Day 3 : Aÿ – Baulne en Brie | 46 km
Follow the Véloroute before bifurcating to the village of the famous monk Dom Pérignon : Hautvillers ! After a short stop, ride along the picturesques routes bordered by vineyard offering nice view points on the Vallée de la Marne, before reaching Baulne-en-Brie, one of the oldest villages of Champagne.
Day 4 : Baulne en Brie – Vertus | 42 km
Enjoy the local heritage : The gothic style abbey church of Orbais l’Abbaye or the renaissance castle of Montmort Lucy, as well as the charming town of Vertus and its old houses.
Day 5 : Vertus – Épernay | 26 km
Cycle to Côte des Blancs. Pedal along some of the classified Grand Cru villages on the slopes producing Chardonnay grapes.
