From Rennes, the Breton capital, take a ride on a safe route along the ‘Canal de L’Ille et Rance’. This peaceful ‘Voie Verte’ leads you to both cities of Art! Dinan – a splendid medieval town, then Saint Malo – the famous ‘Corsair city’. Now you just need to follow the Emerald Coast and its oyster parks to end your adventure at the great Mont Saint-Michel, the “Marvel of the West”!

Day 1Arrival in Rennes
Discover Rennes, city of Art and History and the historical neighbourhoods of this typical Breton city. Stoll along the paved streets with half-timbered houses to the majestic Parliament House dating from the 17th century.
Day 2Rennes – Hédé | 41 km
Leave this animated Breton capital using the cycling paths which will lead you to the ‘Voie Verte’. Cycle now along the peaceful Canal punctuated by typical green landscapes.
Day 3Hédé – Dinan | 37 km
Continue cycling along the Canal from one river lock to the next. Pass farmlands and fields bordered by hedges and trees, and several typical villages of Brittany. Then, the majestic Mediaeval city of Dinan appears in front of you!
Day 4Dinan – Dinard – Saint-Malo | 24 km
Reach the banks of the Rance Valley which presents unique landscapes. Then follow the ‘Voie Verte’ paths to Dinard, a beautiful town presenting a fantastic seaside heritage : from beautiful manor-houses facing the sea to magnificent beaches and pathways along the sea.
Then embark on a bus boat to enjoy a nice view over Saint-Malo. Visit the fabulous “cité des corsaires” or pirate city. Many legends are still haunting the narrow streets of the centre of this town fortified by Vauban!
Day 5Saint-Malo – Le Vivier sur Mer (or St Méloir des Ondes) | 41 km (or 32 km)
Ride along the coast via ‘Pointe du Grouin’, a wonderful point of view facing the sea, before reaching the charming and typical port of Cancale famous for the oyster farms. Enjoy this picturesque fishing harbour offering a wonderful site seeing over the Mont St Michel bay. Continue along the seaside to Le Vivier sur Mer, keeping the Mont St Michel in sight.
Day 6Le Vivier sur Mer (or St Méloir des Ondes) – Pontorson (Mont St Michel) | 33 km (or 38 km)
Leave the oyster parks of Vivier sur mer to reach the fantastic “Mont Saint Michel”! This rocky islet rises in the bay for more than thousand years and has kept its tradition of welcoming visitors. Enjoy a walk through the authentic medieval streets along timber framed houses. Continue with a visit of the abbey and loose your mind in the labyrinth of the numerous surrounded walls of the city. Then follow the Couesnon Valley to Pontorson.
