Your cycling tour in Burgundy:

Burgundy: a region full of flavours, waiting to be sampled! From celebrated vineyards to remarkable châteaux, you will pedal through the bejeweled heart of this unique French region … unique for the quality of its wines and the richness of its dishes, for the beauty of its enchanting rolling landscapes and for its multitude of picturesque, appealing little villages.

In Burgundy time seems to stand still, for the visitor’s delight!

Day 1 : Arrival in Beaune

The undisputed capital of Burgundy, Beaune is also one of France’s prettiest towns, with an important artistic and historic legacy: its hospital, crowned with a roof of glazed tiles, is known throughout the world, and its wine museum is a must!

OptionVisit of the Hospices de Beaune (Included in the "Châteaux Package")
Hôtel Dieu - Beaune

Alain DOIRE_Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Tourisme

Follow the ‘decouvertes tour’ and the playful and interactive scenography of the mustard’ history; we propose to watch short movies, to make your own mustard, and to taste some ‘amuse-bouches’ and mustards. You will know everything about the last independent mustard factory in Burgundy.

Day 2 : Excursion Beaune - Côte de Nuits - Beaune | 53 km (option 12 km)

For your first bike excursion, enjoy the famous Côte de Nuits wine-producing region, known for its Grands Vins de Bourgogne and particularly for its red wines: Chambolle Musigny, Vosne Romanée and the most expensive Burgundy wine, Romanée Conti. Appreciate some outstanding sites – the Château du Clos Vougeot, the town of Nuits Saint Georges and the Château de Gevrey Chambertin.

OptionVisit of the chateau du Clos de Vougeot (Included in the "Châteaux Package")

Bénédicte Manière – Clos de Vougeot

Visit the castle of le Clos du Vougeot (cloister, the former fermenting room, cellars, inside rooms, Benaton’s carrier). You will discover the castle thanks to a new system of touch-sensitive screens set all over the area. They give all the necessary information to understand this amazing place.

Day 3 : Beaune - Chateauneuf en Auxois | 38 km

Still traveling through the famous Burgundy vineyards, reach the Ouche Valley and cross the Canal de Bourgogne to arrive in Châteauneuf, a picturesque old village perched on high, protected by its château dating back to the 12th and 15th centuries!

OptionVisit of the chateau de Châteauneuf-en-Auxois (Included in the "Châteaux Package")
Forteresse de Châteauneuf en Auxois

Alain DOIRE_Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Tourisme

The chateau de Châteauneuf opens its doors to make you travel in time: From 12th to 18th century, the castle has been built, converted, developed according to the needs of each one of its owners. You will visit the donjon, the Philippe Pot manor, the Main building, the chapel, the south tour… and will discover its amazing history through the ages.

Day 4 : Châteauneuf - Autun | 53 km

A country stage passing through the village of Arnay le Duc, with its charming mediaeval center, before arriving in Autun la Romaine. As a school pupil in Autun, Napoléon Bonaparte must have nurtured his dreams of imperial glory while gazing at the Roman remains of the town founded by Augustus. The Porte d’Arroux, the Porte de St André and the Theatre are the most impressive Roman remains.

Day 5 : Autun - Beaune | 63 km

Today’s journey takes you back to the vineyards via the Renaissance Château de Sully and the pretty town of Nolay: a charming village which has preserved its 14th-century covered market, and which is bordered by the “Hautes Côtes de Beaune” vineyards. Continue via the Château de La Rochepot (a magnificent fortress with glazed tile roofs), and the “Côte de Beaune”, famous for its prestigious white wines such as Meursault, Puligny Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet, etc … a last taste of sheer Burgundy delight!
Departure at the end of the stage.

Possibility to book an extra night in Beaune.

OptionCommented wine tasting at the Domaine de Chassagne-Montrachet (Included in the "Châteaux Package")
dégustation Chassagne Montrachet

chât. de Chassagne-Montrachet

Walk around the cellars of the domain of Chassagne-Montrachet; then, we propose a commented tasting of five great wines of the family Picard’s domain’s, to discover the Chassagne-Montrachet, Saint-Aubin’s terroir.
