  • The old village au Châteauneuf-en-Auxois and its castle from the 12th century
  • The prestigious « Côte de Nuits » and « Côte de Beaune »

Day 1Arrival in Beaune

The undisputed capital of Burgundy, Beaune is also one of France’s prettiest towns, with an important artistic and historic legacy: its hospital, crowned with a roof of glazed tiles, is known throughout the world, and its wine museum is a must!

Optional
Visit of the Hospices de Beaune (Included in the "Visit Package")
Hôtel Dieu - Beaune

Alain DOIRE_Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Tourisme

Free audio-guided tour of the Hospices de Beaune. Built in the 15th century to house and care for the poor of Burgundy, this large hospital is a jewel of the civil architecture of the time. You will be amazed by the glazed tiled roofs that have become the symbol of Burgundy.

Day 2Excursion Beaune - Côte de Nuits - Beaune | 59 km

For your first bike excursion, enjoy the famous Côte de Nuits wine-producing region, known for its Grands Vins de Bourgogne and particularly for its red wines: Chambolle Musigny, Vosne Romanée and the most expensive Burgundy wine, Romanée Conti. Appreciate some outstanding sites – the Château du Clos Vougeot, the town of Nuits Saint Georges and the Château de Gevrey Chambertin.

Optional
Visit of the chateau du Clos de Vougeot (Included in the "Visit Package")

Bénédicte Manière – Clos de Vougeot

Visit the castle of le Clos du Vougeot (cloister, the former fermenting room, cellars, inside rooms, Benaton’s carrier). You will discover the castle thanks to a new system of touch-sensitive screens set all over the area. They give all the necessary information to understand this amazing place.

Day 3Beaune - Chateauneuf en Auxois | 35 km

Still traveling through the famous Burgundy vineyards, reach the Ouche Valley and cross the Canal de Bourgogne to arrive in Châteauneuf, a picturesque old village perched on high, protected by its château dating back to the 12th and 15th centuries!

Optional
Visit of the chateau de Châteauneuf-en-Auxois (Included in the "Visit Package")
Forteresse de Châteauneuf en Auxois

Alain DOIRE_Bourgogne-Franche-Comté Tourisme

The chateau de Châteauneuf opens its doors to make you travel in time: From 12th to 18th century, the castle has been built, converted, developed according to the needs of each one of its owners. You will visit the donjon, the Philippe Pot manor, the Main building, the chapel, the south tour… and will discover its amazing history through the ages.

Day 4Châteauneuf - Autun | 60 km

A country stage passing through the village of Arnay le Duc, with its charming mediaeval center, before arriving in Autun la Romaine. As a school pupil in Autun, Napoléon Bonaparte must have nurtured his dreams of imperial glory while gazing at the Roman remains of the town founded by Augustus. The Porte d’Arroux, the Porte de St André and the Theatre are the most impressive Roman remains.

Day 5Autun - Beaune | 73 km

Today’s journey takes you back to the vineyards via the Renaissance Château de Sully and the pretty town of Nolay: a charming village which has preserved its 14th-century covered market, and which is bordered by the “Hautes Côtes de Beaune” vineyards. Continue via the “Côte de Beaune”, famous for its prestigious white wines such as Meursault, Puligny Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet, etc … a last taste of sheer Burgundy delight!
Departure at the end of the stage.

Possibility to book an extra night in Beaune.

Optional
